UNDERCOVER FW26 x Cindy Sherman: Four Garments, Four Identities

YR1JOURNAL
UNDERCOVER FW26 / FOUR PIECES / YR1 EDIT
UNDERCOVER FW26 × CINDY SHERMAN

Four garments.
Four staged
identities.

For YR1, the UNDERCOVER FW26 story is distilled into four wearable images: a printed shirt, a black sweatshirt, and two graphic T-shirts that turn character, mood and cinematic tension into everyday form.

This edit focuses only on the four pieces currently available at YR1. Rather than using standalone artwork, the story stays inside the garments themselves: how the image sits on the fabric, how it changes on the body, and how each piece carries its own distinct atmosphere.

01 / Printed Shirt

The figure half-hidden,
the story half-told.

The printed shirt is the most fluid piece in the edit. On the hanger, the portrait reads almost like a suspended frame from a film: pale hair obscuring the face, a dark coat cutting through the white ground, and just enough visibility to create intrigue without resolution.

Worn on the body, the image stretches across the front placket and collar structure, making the print feel less like decoration and more like a moving composition. The contrast between the soft rayon shirt and the severe mood of the image is exactly what gives the piece its tension.

02 / Sweatshirt

Low light, slow drama,
an image that lingers.

The black sweatshirt carries the most painterly mood in the selection. The seated figure, the teacup, and the surrounding darkness give the garment a dense emotional pull, while the extra point of light in the upper left adds a deliberately cinematic tension.

In the hanging shot, the print feels intimate and atmospheric. In the on-body view, the oversized silhouette gives that atmosphere space to breathe. The result is easy to wear, but never visually passive.

03 / Black T-shirt

A monochrome character
with unmistakable presence.

The black T-shirt presents a sharper, more graphic direction. The black-and-white seated portrait feels direct and iconic, especially with the CINDY SHERMAN and reversed UNDERCOVER text set beneath the image.

The hanging view shows the poster-like clarity of the piece. The on-body view reveals why it works so well as ready-to-wear: the clean oversized cut allows the print to remain central, crisp and easy to style.

04 / White T-shirt

Open road, cold light,
and a sense of departure.

The white highway T-shirt feels the most cinematic in motion. The open-road image brings distance, atmosphere and narrative space, while the white base keeps the entire piece bright, clean and immediate.

Placed next to the black T-shirt, it completes the pair without repeating it. One feels noir and interior; the other feels exposed, suspended and moving toward somewhere else.
